Three years ago I fell in love with clogging here is my clogging story!!! Enjoy! ;-)
I began dancing at the age of five at Cherrilane's School of Dance in East Dallas. While I was there I studied ballet, tap,
and jazz. In high school I joined the dance team where I learned hip hop. I was fortunate to become the captain my senior
year!! I continued on to college with a minor in Dance where I studied ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Along with the technique
classes (in ballet, jazz and modern) I had the opportunity to take Dance History, Improvisation/choreography, Dance Performance,
and Rhythmic Analysis.
Skipping forward a bit :)-- in 2005 (while in graduate school) I went to an American Sign Language Variety Show where
I was exposed to the wonderful folk dance called CLOGGING! I was amazed by it and instantly jumped on the clogging bandwagon.
Now I am a certified clogging instructor (CCI) and I completed my certification in November 2007 in Nashville, TN.
I am very thankful to the Rhythm Rocker cloggers out of Nacogdoches, Texas and the Cherokee Cloggers in Rusk, Texas who
supported me in my endeavors. They helped me achieve goals that I would not have been able to reach independently.
This past February I developed my own team in Garland, The Clogging Squares. Our goal is to bridge that gap between the
square dancing world and the clogging world... especially since clogging is tied to square dancing in the first place! I
as a new instructor in the DFW area am blessed by my new dancers along with the support of long time Texas instructors who
are so understanding of my dreams and goals. I appreciate you all for accepting me in with open arms. It certainly means
a lot.
What I do- besides clogging: I am a DEAF EDUCATION ITINERANT TEACHER!!! I love it so much! As an educator I am certified
to teach Dance in the public schools as well.
Also most recent news about me-- I am turning the BIG "3 O" on January 15th. I am planning on going to Luckenbach,
Texas on January 17th to participate in the first of many workshops there. Two members from The Clogging Squares- mom and
daughter Lori and Rachel- are going also and Lori and I will celebrate our birthdays together. I am looking forward to it!
Other than that The Clogging Squares are getting ready for the first of many performances on April 4th at a nursing home.
We are also going to be a part in the Best of Texas at Six Flags September 2009!!! We are thrilled about that.
Anyways, take care-- always remember to clog like no one is watchin' :-)
